BLACK SWAN:
The Black Swan Classic Jazz Band began in 1989 by several musicians in Oregon's lush Willamette Valley. It is an eight-piece ensemble dedicated to the preservation and acoustic performance of traditional Jazz, Dixieland, and Ragtime music. The band has performed at numerous festivals, community and private events in Oregon, Washington, Iowa, Arizona, California, and British Columbia.
Black Swan is a versatile group with the ability to tastefully caress an intimate room, fire up a large hall and keep the dancers cutting a rug. Black Swan delights in entertaining as well as educating it's audiences with authentic renditions of the music of noteworthy early Jazz figures such as Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, Fats Waller, Turk Murphy, Eubie Blake, Scott Joplin, and others. You will hear a strong mix of music performed by few if any other bands, as well as many popular favorites you know and love.
