Welcome to Celebration Music and Events' disc jockey service. In this section you will find detailed information about the various services we offer, the music library, equipment available, system operators, pricing, and contracting information.

This section should be able to answer many questions you have related to our DJ service, however, probably not all of them. After viewing this material please contact us for further information and to set up a no-cost consultation. We highly encourage every potential client to take advantage of this consultation. At the meeting you will be able to sit down with one of our jockeys and go over details such as the room layout, the flow of the event, music, and announcements without risking any more than a little bit of your time.

DJ Service:
Celebration Music and Events' DJ service is one that is straight forward and fun. Unlike some other companies that take commissions for referring customers to sub-contracting DJ services, our service is strictly in-house. By using our own equipment and DJs we keep quality and pricing consistent, allowing us to put our own reputation behind our service. We provide experienced, professional disc jockey services to over 200 events annually ranging from wedding receptions, reunions, bar-mitz-vahs and bat-mitz-vahs, school functions, corporate events, grand openings and any event where quality dance or background music is required.

Our philosophy here is pretty simple. Use the best, most state of the art equipment for a professional look and great sound. Combine that with experience and individual attention to create a highly effective and well received entertainment service. We understand that our services are almost always for very special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc. Therefore, we take extra time with each client to help them decide which jockey and which services are right for them.

Posted below is a partial listing of our music library. This listing is of approximately 3,000 of our 7,000 song library which goes to every event our DJs go to. It is arranged in alphabetical order by artist and by song title. We periodically update this list and have a full posting scheduled for April of 2004. We are continually buying new music and encourage your requests.

Please note the music we provide is created from our own CD library of ~5,000 original CDs. This library was not made from illegal CDs or downloads. We believe that it is important to support artists by buying their music and continue to do that.

Karaoke Service:
Our Karaoke systems have been designed for people who take their fun seriously. With close to 3,000 song titles from which to choose, professional sound systems and digital effects, we believe that our mobile systems rival many of those found in the better Karaoke clubs and at an affordable price that will definitely make you want to add this to your next event. This is very interactive entertainment that is almost always a huge hit.

Equipment:
Every system supplied by Celebration Music and Events comes with a computer to assist the jockey in running their event. It is a key element in delivering the highest quality mobile sound available. Each computer is equipped with media players, a CD player, equalizer, sound processor, and our extensive collection of music. We use both laptops and desktops with flat panel monitors to deliver a great digital sound and a clean, professional appearance. The rest of the system is tailored to your event needs.

We have sound systems to fit occasions of all sizes. We can provide extremely large sound systems for college dances, conventions, concerts, etc. or we can provide systems so small that they are hardly noticeable - visually. The size of the system will depend on your needs. The standard sound system used for weddings, company parties, and small dances consists of two and four speaker combinations, 1200 watts of power or more, and a microphone. The microphone is a hand-held wireless that is for both our use and yours.

Standard with every system we send out is a set of colored chaser lights that sit discreetly on our speaker cabinets. These chaser lights flash to the beat of the music in a variety of patterns and are very helpful in setting a dancing mood. To further build a party environment consider adding additional effects like mirror balls, strobe lights, black lights, high-tech lights, intelligent lighting, fog machines, and/or bubble machines.

Jockeys:
Celebration Music and Events prides itself not only on the quality of the equipment and the size of our music library, but also on the skill and professionalism of our jockeys. We work with only a select few entertainers that have proven themselves over an extended period of time. Our jockeys are young, enthusiastic, know the equipment, have a strong background in music, but most importantly know how to speak to and interact with a crowd. Below you can find a photo and a short biography of each jockey.

Lynn Mix: Lynn has been a disc jockey for over ten years and has experience with all types of events. She has had a passion for music all of her life. Lynn graduated from Portland State University in 1999 with a BA in music and recently completed her masters degree in education. Lynn is currently a band director as well as a professional musician. She loves to sing and dance and is comfortable with many styles of dancing that she can teach. Lynn has a talent for reading crowds and keeping the dance floor occupied.

Victor Salinas: Victor has been a DJ since 1996. He has experience coordinating and performing at many types of events including corporate parties, weddings, and school functions. Victor also has a significant background in dance. He has studied and taught several styles of dance, including Latin, Mexican Folk, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Ballroom. Victor is currently studying Psychology at Portland State University, as well as giving Latin dance instruction. With his extensive dance background and strong knowledge of music, Victor does an excellent job getting people moving.

Phillip Sitbon: Phillip has a degree in math from PSU and is currently working on his masters of computer science. He has been a DJ just over 4 years and has been with Media Jockeys for the last year. He is extremely professional at all times and super easy to work with. His knowledge of the music and equipment is excellent. More importantly, he knows how to keep the dance floor occupied and the flow of your event going.

Victoria Mix: Vicki truly enjoys music and is familiar with many styles. Vicki's clients like to work with her because of her low-key approach. She has fun on the job, likes to interact with the crowd, but certainly won't overdo it. Vicki is very pleasant to work with and is extremely professional. Since her graduation from Pacific University in 2000 she has continued to DJ and has been traveling the world over in her free time.

Stephen Mix: Stephen has been doing disc jockey work for over ten years. He started performing as an assistant DJ while still a high school student. During his college years he kept very busy developing a computer based service and performing at 50-70 events annually. Through his experience he has become a very knowledgeable DJ and is comfortable entertaining at a wide variety of events.
Having graduated from Portland State University in late 2001, Stephen moved back to Japan to further build an international business resume. Throughout 2005 he will be seeking a limited number of bookings while in the Portland area.

Pricing
Prices vary depending on the services selected, equipment ordered, location of the event, time of performance, and other factors. Therefore, we quote prices for each event accordingly and cannot give one set price.

However, the general rule of thumb for a basic system is approximately $125 per hour of playtime in the Portland area. The basic system includes a DJ, a computer-based system, a 2-4 speaker set, 1200watts of power or more, wireless microphone, and a set of colored chaser lights.

Most functions are booked in 3-6hr blocks of time. You are not charged for consultation, set-up, or tear down times; you are billed only for playtime.

Booking
Once you have made a selection of services and are ready to hire, you must then order a contract. The contract is a one page document outlining the major details of the agreement. After you have placed your order you can expect a contract in the mail within a couple of days. Your date is then held (temporarily reserved) for 2 weeks. Once Celebration Music and Events receives a copy of the signed contract and the deposit, your date is then reserved. Celebration Music and Events accepts cash, Oregon checks, and major credit cards.

  • If payment will be made by check or cash, the contract will typically require that half of the balance be deposited with a copy of the signed contract to reserve the date. The other half would be due at the time of performance.

  • If payment is made by credit card, the contract will require that the entire balance be paid when you turn in the signed contract.
